Human Rights: Research.

Human Rights:
Emma and Maddy:

In media Class we researched about human rights:

What are human rights?
Human rights are made for every person no matter what race, nationality, gender, culture, religion, colour, language or status. Basically the freedom or something you are entitled to do. Some of these include; The rights to speak your mind, the right to live, Freedom of religion and to be treated equally( there are a total of 30 human rights) There are many rights, Most of the time they are specifically dedicated to a certain group but Human rights are dedicated to every human... Everywhere

How were human rights made?
http://www.humanrights.com/#/what-are-human-rights

What are some human rights disobeyed in Sudan?

When was the Universal Declaration of Human Rights made and where?
10 December 1948. At the Palais de Chaillot, in Paris, France.

Can we change human right?
Yes, every 10 December each year people go through the human rights and make any necessary changes.

Who made the human right?
Eleanor Roosevelt (United States of America), René Cassin (France), Charles Malik (Lebanon), Peng Chun Chang (China), Hernan Santa Cruz (Chile), Alexandre Bogomolov/Alexei Pavlov, (Soviet Union), Lord Dukeston/Geoffrey Wilson (United Kingdom) William Hodgson (Australia), and John Humphrey (Canada).

Which other countries don’t support the human right laws?
Although many countries participate in the human rights laws there are some who dont. Mostly third world countries.

Why do we all need human rights?
If we don’t have human right no one would be treated equal and people would be discriminated against and have to work for someone who has a higher status. If there was no Human Rights laws or rules, there will be war, slaves and cruel punishments.

Why is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights important ?
“Because it protects and promotes your individual rights.”

The main points of our research are that everyone is equal no matter where they go or what nationality they are.
For our video I think it would be good to do a video on being free to do whatever we want and to be treated equal

Video's: Sudan

In media class today we looked at some footage of Sudan. For homework we are asked to find video's of Sudan and their culture, Heritage and Things about Sudan.

My first video is about the way that Sudanese women dress and how it affects their lives. They dress in lightweight cloth-like dresses. Its very important that they wear this because its part of their culture, If they do not wear this than they could be shot. "A women in the street cant go out without covering her face" This was when they had a mask piece covering their nose and mouth. Later on they women protested against the british colony and won. The mouth pieces where gone. After awhile colours changed it became more colourful and bright. As it says in the video "its is almost like a canvas covering the womens body" This shows they can decorate the outfit how they want. Young Sudanese women are starting to not wear these outfits anymore but some girls say that "it will stay with them forever, thats how they know that they are sudanese"

ICT: End of Unit Essay

This essay will be based on what year 9 learnt in ICT class including; Hardware, Software, Network and People.

First unit was hardware. Hardware is the components of the computer and how the computer is made. The Hardware of a modern personal computer are the following; Monitor, Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Expansion cards, Power supply, Optical disc drive, Hard disk drive, Keyboard, Mouse.

Hardware of a modern Personal Computer.
1. Monitor 2. Motherboard
3. CPU 4. RAM
5. Expansion cards 6. Power supply
7. Optical disc drive 8. Hard disk drive
9. Keyboard 10. Mouse

A monitor is a device that displays signals on a computer screen, Another term for this would be a display screen but monitor normally means the whole box surrounding the display screen and the screen. A motherboard is a thin rectangular piece that connects parts of the computer including the CPU, Ram and disc drive. “It is a large rectangular board with integrated circuitry that connects the rest of the parts of the computer”A CPU (central processing unit) is the brains of the computer all the calculations and jobs are done here “In terms of computing power, the CPU is the most important element of a computer system.” RAM(random-access memory) This is a memory chip. If you have more RAM therefore your computer will run quicker “the most common computer memory, which can be used by programs to perform necessary tasks while the computer is on.” Expansion cards also known as expansion boards, adapter cards and accessory card is a circuit board that is inserted into the expansion slot of a motherboard to add more functions to your computer system. Optical disc drive (ODD) “is a disc drive that uses laser light or electromagnetic waves near the light spectrum as part of the process of reading or writing data to or from optical discs.” The hard disc drive is where most programs and files are stored “The main data storage in most personal computers. It holds all of the software, including the operating system, as well as user-created data files. Capacities range up to 150 gigabytes and beyond.”

Computer software or Software is just a collection of programs, data “and related data that provide the instructions telling a computer what to do and how to do it.”
Some examples include; Application software such as computer games and word processers. Testware is software used for testing programs or a software package. “Device drivers control parts of computers such as disk drives, printers, CD drives, or computer monitors.”

Computer network is basically a community of computers interacting with each other. Network also means “is a collection of computers and devices interconnected by communications channels that facilitate communications among users and allows users to share resources.” Your computers can create a network by using ‘Terminal.’ Terminal is an application that connects you computers to create a network. You connect these by using IP addresses. IP addresses (Internet Protocol address) is “usually a numerical label assigned to each device”

The Internet is a worldwide networks linked together. The Internet was made for a nuclear attack. First they had a piece of wire that connected two people together but it’s easy to hack into the system and listen to the speaker. It was very inconvenient because one person had to walk and it would take days till they finally reached the other person, you also couldn’t speak to more than one person at a time.

Now, Humans rely on computers and technology a lot more than they have done in the past. Technology affect our daily lives, we have a T.V, Car, Laptops. Ect.
Although computers are useful, although people around the world misuse them and causes such problems as Hacking, plagiarism, downloading software for free, Email and chat abuse, Identity abuse and Viruses “Computers can either affect in a good way or a bad way, it depends. For example, it can affect people's lives in a good way because we can use it for studying and research. But, the computer can also be effective in a bad way because computer games can control people’s lives if they are to addicted to that one certain game. Then people should take steps to get back on track with their addiction and control it.”

Hacking is where a person connects to a network or guesses a password to someone’s account on a website or computer. Basically hacking is where the hacker breaks into something they are not permitted to see. Hackers can find your information in many ways. They could guess a password, you may leave some information somewhere, and they could read information of shred outs that are found in bins, they could break into a network.

Plagiarism is where you copy someone’s thoughts, ideas or words. If you copy and paste without putting quotations and a bibliography you are plagiarizing.

Downloading Software or free: This is where when software that normally costs and you download it for free. This is bad because people, who spend time making the software and sell it, won’t get the money they deserve.

Email and Chat abuse: This can be different in many ways. People who abuse can pretend to be someone that their not, they can abuse someone and call them rude names or cyber bully. Some people get cyber bullied that they commit suicide. So when someone thinks their funny when their teasing another person the outcomes can be bad. You could also get into a lot of trouble for it.

To prevent people hacking into your computer, you could change your passwords (Try something with numbers) Shred printouts that contain personal information or data, Put a lock on your computer and lock it when you are away, Don’t talk to strangers you don’t know and keep your personal information to yourself.

Misuse Of ICT: Presentation Video

In the video above i was presenting in front of 9.1, The presentation above was about misuse of ICT.

I watched the video and I thought that I did quite well by talking about the main points and not getting off topic. Although I could use more colours and make it more interesting.

Over all I thought year 9 did a great job presenting.

The Internet. Computing Systems

You want to send or upload a video to youtube, or send a photo to Facebook?
It sends within minutes, how does it actually work?

Well the picture divides into packets. Try this: Go to google and find a picture and watch it load up You will see how fast the packets are sent. The packets hop from different networks.

For example is you want to upload a picture to Facebook from your own computer it will split into packets and each of the packets will find there own way to get to Facbook, So maybe packet one will start from your own computer and go to ICHK which leads to PCCW which leads to Optus which leads to Facebook.

Each packet tries to find the quickest route to get to the site you wanted.

After all the packets hop to the website (they might not be in order) they rearrange themselves, In the order that they were first sent in.

Well Done ! You have uploaded your photo!

Computer Recap System

The top 6 components of a computer are:
- Hard drive
- CPU
- Ram
-Disk drive
- Case
- Fan

Assembling:

- Put the Cpu in where it fits (It should be a bit bigger than the actual CPU and have a lever that you pull down after the CPU is in place)

- Assemble your fan and screw it into place

- Attach all the wires into place (This is quite easy because the wires are keyed)

- Install the Disk drive

- Put the ram into where it fits (It should be bigger than the ram disk and have two outer corners and you pull in)

- Now do a smoke test (This makes sure everything is okay and into place) If it smokes look over your work

-Put the outer shell of the case and screw into place
